RAKOCI, Dubravka, artist (Zagreb, 20/28/1955). She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Prof R. Goldoni. She began her career as an artist in the 1970’s. She works with process art, minimal art and creates public space interventions using anachronistic pieces in the form of circles, thereby seizing the area of display (Veće monokromije, 1982, Prema bijeloj monokromiji, 1984, Akvarel, 1992). Her canvases define space – by folding them, re-applying the paint, allowing them to absorb and age, they witness the creation of new meta-life. She annihilates the volume of spaces using paintings; she turns space into ambient, uses paintings to abolish paintings and institutes installations as principles of action. Her installations are anachronistic, minimalist and procedural. She has held solo exhibitions in Zagreb, Frankfurt, London, Berlin, Bonn, Milan, Marseilles, Beijing, Paris, Rovinj, Umag and Slavonski Brod. Her works are held in museum and renowned private collections in Croatia and worldwide.
