DŽAMONJA, Dušan, sculptor, academic (Strumica, 1/31/1928 – Zagreb, 1/14/2009). He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the 1940’s. He is the author of numerous monumental sculptures and animal sculpture series and he developed a specific expression combining nails and burnt wood. He has won a number of awards. He is the author of many architectural projects for museums, monuments, galleries, high-rises and mosques. He took part in the 30th Venice Biennale in 1960. He exhibited in Croatia and abroad. His works are held in renowned museum and galleries in Croatia and worldwide, as well as in private collections.
