POSAVEC, Ivan, photographer (Dužica near Sisak, 6/6/1951). He graduated at the Academy for theater, film and television in Zagreb in 1980, in the class of Prof N. Tanhofer, and acquired a master’s degree in photography at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 1984, in the class of Prof D. Kažić. His photographs have been published in magazines and newspapers, such as Polet, Start, Komunist, Studentski list, Danas, Mladina, Pitanja and Vjesnik. He is close to the post-conceptual artists on the grounds of his expressive and narrative approach, while his statement is provocative and borderline shocking. He was a secret opponent to the communist system and regime. His works have been exhibited in museums of modern and contemporary art of the region and beyond, and are held in contemporary art museum- and renowned private collections.
