DUMANIĆ, Zlatan, artist, African art and sling collector, autodidact (Split, 1/26/1951 – Split, 2017). He was a ship captain with 20 years of experience working on domestic and foreign ships. He began his career as an artist in 1969 as a member of the 3i art group from Split, one of the fractions of the Red Peristyle art group. He participated at the 51st Venice Biennale, representing Croatia. He was a multidisciplinary artist with widely ranging work; he staged actions and performances, as well as published books, artist’s books, experimental handmade books, poetry books and librettos. His more relevant actions include: Crveni galeb (1969, Čiovo), Slušanje mora, kiše i vjetra (1969, collaboration with V. D. Trokut), Orgulje (1969, six whistling pipes built into a gulley in Split, collaboration with V. D. Trokut), Nijedna stvar ili osoba (1970, 3i art group gathering with P. Dulčić, T. Čaleta and V. D. Trokut, other actions in the VDT cabinet of curiosities in Istarska 24, Split). He exhibited in Croatian and abroad. His works are held in contemporary art museums and private collections. /V.D.T./
